The Kennebec Water District (District) is seeking candidates to fill a Technology Support Assistant position.  This position is a seasonal position open from May-August 2021.

Hourly Rate:  $13.50 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm

Location: 6 Cool Street, Waterville, Maine

The successful candidate must be able to display an exceptional work ethic, strong technology skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The Technology Support Assistant will perform varied duties associated with the District’s information systems.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Technology Support Assistant position is a seasonal position intended to assist the Director of Technology with the development and maintenance of the District’s various information systems (including GIS, SCADA, time and safety tracking, meter reading, and enterprise resource planning.)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Enter data into the District’s information systems
  • Assist in the development of the District’s information systems utilizing development tools and programming
  • Scan documents for the purposes of electronic file storage
  • Collect GPS points in the field for the District’s GIS

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adherence to OSHA, Department of Labor, and District safety regulations
  • Complete and accurate record keeping
  • Proper care and maintenance of equipment
  • Promotes positive public relations through interactions with public, customers, municipal employees, and others
  • Performs other tasks as assigned

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED

  • Applicants shall be a full-time student currently enrolled at 2-year or 4-year college or university in a technology-related program (computer information systems, computer science, engineering, etc.)
  • Experience with computer programming preferred
  • Valid Maine driver’s license
  • Ability to comprehend and complete reports or forms as necessary
  • Ability to work as a team with supervisors and fellow employees and to interact properly with customers and the public
  • Ability to understand and implement safety procedures
  • Ability to understand and implement technical procedures
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction
  • Visual accuracy, clear verbal and written communication

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Moderate physical labor including lifting, varied tool use, walking, standing, bending, squatting, driving, repetitive arm/shoulder use and using electronic equipment including desktop computers and mobile devices
  • Primarily inside work with occasional outdoor work
  • Some potentially hazardous environments (personal protective equipment use required)
